The new Ford Fusion is the most technologically advanced and best engineered vehicle in the Ford South Africa line-up. Set to take on the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes Benz C-Class. Offering outstanding exterior design, peerless interior craftsmanship and responsive yet efficient EcoBoost and TDCi powerplants, net yet seen in our local market, the all-new Ford Fusion will proudly sit as the flagship model in the range.
Bolstering the introduction of the new Ford Fusion, Ford South Africa will debut two new EcoBoost petrol engines locally, a 1.5-litre and 2.0litre, both featuring outstanding performance and impressively low fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Producing 132kW / 240Nm and 149kW / 300Nm of respective power and torque, these two engines deliver unrivalled performance. Supplementing the range is Ford’s well known 2.0-litre Durotorq TDCi engine rated at 132kW and 400Nm of torque.
The petrol derivatives are available with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox and the diesel, a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmission.
The new Ford Fusion has an aircraft-style fuselage design that seamlessly flows from front to back giving it a premium, sophisticated look. With its highly sculptured bonnet, slim headlights and large grille, the all-new Fusion exudes elegance and sporty prowess.
Step inside the Fusion and you’re greeted with premium, luxury interior the likes of which has not been seen on a Ford in South Africa, elevating the Fusion and the Ford brand into first-class levels of desirability.
Available in the two specification levels the ‘entry level’ 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre EcoBoost Trend models offer a standard level of specification unmatched by rivals in this segment. A premium Sony audio system with 8 speakers, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, power windows and mirrors which are also heated, electric park brake, steering wheel mounted gearshift controls, adaptive cornering headlights, daytime running lights and auto locking doors are some of the standard features.
The top spec 2.0-litre EcoBoost and 2.0-litre TDCi Titanium models offer, on top of what is offered above, SYNC2 with voice control and 8” touchscreen – Ford’s smart new infotainment system which incorporates the radio, CD, SD Card, USB and Bluetooth connectivity – adaptive cruise control, park assist, active city stop, keyless entry and start, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlight on/off, full LED headlights, auto dimming rearview mirror, land departure warning system with lane keeping aid, blind spot detection with cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and fatigue detection.

Strengthening Fusion’s superior offering in the market is its 5 Star Euro NCAP rating supplemented with advanced safety features such as ESP, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist and Electronic Brake Prefill which close any air gap between brake pads and brake discs providing a greater braking responsiveness in an emergency.
A segment first – not yet seen on any of the competition – are the full LED headlights (standard on Titanium models). LEDs deliver a very precise and intense natural light greatly enhancing road illumination and thus safety. Apart from this, LEDs are super-efficient and can be expected to last the entire life of the vehicle!
